Transform A Featureless Space Into An Elegant Retreat

Damian's client was dissatisfied with their uneven, featureless and parched back garden. They asked Gardens Of Distinction to design and build a functional garden where they could escape to relax and enjoy being outdoors.

The property is approximately 60 years old and sits in an established estate with an east facing aspect. It is surrounded by other properties, however, A beautiful mature tree in a neighbouring space provides privacy and shade. And, whilst the fencing was in reasonable condition, it made the garden appear harsh and uninviting.

Damian's vision included a stylish garden building, the sound of moving water, and the use of different hard landscaping materials to give interesting textures and to create a journey around the garden.

Challenge
Accuracy Is Key To The Beauty Of This Space

No garden transformation is without its challenges and this project was no exception. Ensuring that all of the levels and transitions were correctly aligned called for careful planning and precise installation.

That beautiful corten steel water blade was bespoke made and needed to be fitted with extreme accuracy.

The wall tiles also posed a challenge as they had to be cut very carefully to give those nice mitred corners that you can see.

Solution
A Garden That Exceeds Client Expectations

It's no surprise that the clients were delighted with their new garden. The level of detail attained through the design and the installation accentuates the feeling of luxury. This garden will look good all four seasons of the year and needs the bare minimum of maintenance.

We love the corten steel water feature and the contrasting textures within the hard landscaped elements. The planting design is inspirational. Pretty pom pots of allium purple sensation echo the shape of the topiary balls beneath them and appear to float above the Stipa tenuissima. In the raised beds, dramatic leaf shapes contrast with a pebble mulch and provide a fabulous pop of colour against the slate-coloured fence.

All in all, an incredible piece of landscaping work.
