Farmhouse Garden In Leicestershire

Chris and his team had quite an extensive brief from his client. They asked for their spacious garden to be transformed into an outdoor entertaining space. On the wish list were:-

1. An oak gazebo to complement the style of their newly built oak framed extension.
2. Bar
3. Hot Tub
4. Outdoor sounds system
5. Lighting - including LED lights under steps and edges as well as illumination for plants and trees.
6. Access from the lawn to all levels (this is a sloping garden!)
7. Formal but low maintenance planting
8. Contemporary style but sympathetic to the house and the surrounding landscape.

Outsiders Landscaping did a fantastic job of designing a series of hardlandscaped areas that flow seamlessly from one space to another and offer enviable views of the rolling countryside beyond the hedge.

The slopes in this garden presented a few challenges for the design team. The existing lawn could not be recontoured due to the property's boundaries. However, as somebody who lives and works in the Midlands, Chris knew exactly how to manage the changes in level.
Elsewhere, Chris was determined to work the wraparound patio so that it had full slabs and no cuts towards the steps. It looks great, but required very careful planning.

The choice of materials in this garden is key to it's success. Although Chris and his team opted for a mix of modern and traditional products, they all work beautifully together. More importantly, they are so well matched to the style of the farmhouse that the garden looks as though it has been there for many decades. Chris counts the wraparound step with the lighting as one of his biggest triumphs of this project, but quite honestly, it's impossible to criticise any part of this garden. Beautiful. Just beautiful!
